Operations Security

GEM has the experience base to provide Operations Security (OPSEC) guidance and support in identifying actual or potential vulnerabilities associated with classified and sensitive unclassified information that could be exploited by adversarial intelligence agencies.  Our support in the OPSEC area includes the following:

  • Conducting VA planning and execution of OPSEC assessments and reviews of facilities, programs, and activities. These assessments make recommendations and provide no- or low-cost countermeasures to decision makers to assist in sound risk acceptance or risk mitigation decisions.

  • Publishing local OPSEC Threat Statements, OPSEC Assessment Guide, OPSEC Employee Pocket Guide, Open Skies Treaty Response Plan, and Annual OPSEC Report, as well as other plans and awareness materials (such as videos, computer based training, posters, etc.).

  • Conducting OPSEC assessments and reviews of customer facilities, programs, and activities. We have participated in the collection of threat, vulnerability assessment, and countermeasures data and literature, as well as assessed the impact of data collected on classified and sensitive unclassified programs.

  • Developing a wide array of awareness products, such as posters, videos, computer-based training, an OPSEC web page, and other awareness products.

  • Conducting OPSEC Working Group meetings.

  • Assisting in the development and instructor support for OPSEC training and the development of training materials.
