Information Security

GEM recognizes that the protection of classified and sensitive information is vital to our national security. As such, our staff are highly qualified, trained, and experienced in information security and sensitive information policy, procedures, and solutions to concerns. They have developed and conducted surveillance and oversight programs designed to assess the protection of classified information, matter, and parts, as well as sensitive information and made recommendations for correction of identified shortcomings. These reviews have successfully identified the use of engineered technological measures that provide more assurance and permanent cost-effective solutions to information security and sensitive information concerns.  They have also helped assure that our customer information policies and procedures are current, all encompassing, and in place for the protection of classified and sensitive information.

GEM has extensive experience in the maintenance of classified documents storage operations. We have helped assure that the training and assistance to, and administrative oversight of all classified matter custodians is timely and effective. Our experience has included the briefing and certifying of new employees on how to properly prepare, mark, transmit, receive, and protect classified matter.  GEM also has designed and maintained databases of classified documents and materials to include databases of Accountable Classified Removable Electronic Media and inventories of accountable matter.

GEM has developed comprehensive training syllabuses to assure classified matter custodians are provided information security custodial training.  This includes a computer-based training program that can be used to re-certify on an annual basis existing custodians.  We have also prepared examinations and practical exercises as a part of the training syllabus designed to test the proficiency of the custodians and to reinforce key elements of the program.
